Using a dummy

Using a dummy

We thought we would wait a few weeks to use a dummy. Gosh how that changed on about night 5 home from the hospital when we had tried every trick we had been taught. Nothing was working and short of attaching her to my breast nothing was going to settle Penelope. The dummy has been a godsend, providing a means for self-settling. We only use the dummy when Penelope begins to fuss in between feeds and to assist her getting to sleep when she struggles to settle herself. At 10 weeks this has meant that she likes the dummy, but to date is not 100% dependant on it. I’m not sure when I will attempt to remove it, for now it works, and what works makes life easier for us all.
